Our Anti reflective Coating - All with Warranty

Our GOOD coating has good anti-reflective properties and is fairly easy to keep clean. This lens is standard on all of our lens packages. Complete with 100% UV protection and a six-month, unconditional, scratch resistant warranty.

Our BETTER anti-reflective lens coating. Not only is this water resistant, but static resistant as well. Easier to keep clean that our Basic A/R lens, this more durable coating carries a full one-year, scratch resistant warranty along with 100% UV protection.

Our  BEST anti-reflective coating technology on the market today! This lens is water, static, grease resistant as well. The easiest lens to keep clean and it stays clean the longest; it hardly shows a fingerprint! A lens of this quality is guaranteed for the "Life of the prescription." (As long as you are wearing this Rx and something happens to the lens, return it for a new pair...no questions asked!)

Our lenses satisfy all prescription types

CR 39 lens is for prescriptions from 0.00 to +/- 2.00. This lens is thin and lightweight enough to provide comfort and clarity. Plastic lenses in lower prescriptions are proven to have excellent optics.

Polycarbonate lens gives superior eye protection, while being thinner and lighter than Plastic. Our most impact resistant lens is best suited for all prescriptions between +/- 0.00 to +/-4.00. 

High-Index 1.67   with superior optics, thinness and overall clarity, is highly recommended for our customers with a higher Rx. There is less peripheral distortion when you use a thinner lens in a high prescription and increased visual comfort.

About our Founders

Dr. Steven Weisfeld

After earning his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Dr. Weisfeld began as an independent optometrist. From 1994-96, Dr. Weisfeld served as a consultant to the Prio Organization, a company instrumental in the study, diagnosis and treatment of Computer Vision Syndrome. He was integral in expanding their product mix to independent optometrists on the East Coast. He also has served as an Affiliate Professor in clinical development at the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico, School of Optometry.

Having spent over 30 years in a successful and growing Optometric practice, Dr. Weisfeld has devoted his time and care to his patients and community. Dr. Weisfeld enjoys engaging with students at his postsecondary alma mater, as well as hosting Optometric students in his practice.

He feels strongly that Tortoise and Blonde be a service-oriented company and his online patrons be as well cared for as his traditional patients. Using his years of expertise, he has developed an affordable, fashion-forward, high quality eyewear collection that will appeal to discerning sensibilities.

Evan Weisfeld

After college and cutting his teeth on Wall St., Evan traded in his tie and wingtips to run day-to-day operations at Tortoise & Blonde. With a bachelors in Supply Chain & Information Systems from Penn State, Evan began his working career as an analyst at Credit Suisse but has always had a passion for design. Growing up as the son of an eye doctor and having been a glasses wearer with a keen sense of fashion, Evan saw a niche market in creating a high quality eyewear brand that is affordable for even struggling college students. An avid surfer, concertgoer and self-proclaimed culinary master, Evan enjoys spending time outdoors and vacationing with his family.
